Ogrexx Webcomic

I am the artist of the erotic steampunk webcomic, Ogrexx. Sometimes NSFW.

This is a project I do for myself with no expectation of monetization. I have always enjoyed reading comics. I once aspired to be a professional comic artist, which is the original reason I pursued my master’s in Illustration. Now, I get the chance to do my own.

I do my best to use a minimalist process. I draw the comics with a 5mm standard mechanical pencil on plain bond paper. I then scan my drawing into Photoshop for sizing and a light touchup of the line art. I use Auto Trace to turn the line art into vector shapes. I then finish the color and text in Illustrator. I export it to SVG file format. With SVG, the image is clean and crisp (not pixelated) no matter how much you zoom in. I use a special WordPress plugin to display SVG on the website. I broadcast the webcomic with MailChimp and RSS.

I started the webcomic in 2022. After 190+ daily panels, I rebooted it in 2024. I switched from daily publishing (which became too daunting) to weekly with 8 panels. I didn’t change my creation process, but I refined the comic story and the art to be less goofy and refined. It’s been difficult not to follow recent American comics trends (both printed and movie). I don’t want the comic to be cliche. Thus, the reboot. I think I’ve accomplished that now.
